Time is money....Time is of the essence....Time is drunk and needs to take a seat.

I'm forever jealous of those people surfing through their early 20's with ease. Who are you mutants? Where did you come from? Are they accepting new applicants? I would love to apply to whatever cult it was, I will gladly drink that Koolaid.

I just realized that I've started to wander down a path in the this blog post I don't want to go down. A path that leads to a 500 word ramble about confusion and direction, when in all actuality I have plenty of one and not much of the other and for once the scale tips in my favour. I am currently confusion-less (actually that is a lie, I am still very confused as to how boys wear skinny jeans without their boxer/briefs/mankini getting all bundled up, but that is for a different post). I know what I want, or at least I know the correct route to take.

If you are an avid reader (aka if you are my mum) you will know I had planned on being in Los Angeles by this point in time, instead I am writing this from sweltering New York City and for once I can say this is out of choice (and let's be honest there are worse places to be.) The Dordyline of yesteryear (ok, yesterday) would have wrote a scathing rant on the perils of being stagnant. The new and improved self is looking at the glass half full of opportunity (and Pinot Grigio.)

Over the last few weeks, I have learned to accept that time is not flying by as fast as I may feel sometimes, yet it is not frozen like it can seem. I can't let it pass me by, but I can't hyperventilate my way through it either. Things happen when they happen, that great opportunity left to make way for something better and hustling is paramount to success.

I will make things happen and that I'm sure of, but they wouldn't happen in the next three seconds no matter how hard I click my heels and this is the most refreshing epiphany I've had in a long time.

Tune in next time for another episode of You've got this Girl written by a tipsy 22 year old who is really good at stumbling in the right direction. Now if you would please excuse me I have apples to smother in peanut butter and apartments to google.

I'm not a very deep person: I'm brutally honest and generally kind hearted, I love baby animals as much as the next person and I secretly enjoy pop music that makes me drop my dun dun dun. When I love, I love with everything I am and when I have any sort of task, I work my butt off until it's done.

I was never happy with this.

I always found myself to be boring. I didn't have any quirky hobbies and didn't obsess over the desire to be edgy like most 20-somethings. I was oblivious about a lot of the hidden gems that swam around the sewers of cool, and often found myself lost in conversations about this super awesome band that I hadn't even heard of.

I'm not even the kind of uncool that people crave to be, hanging out at dusty dive bars waiting for their equally as lame counterpart to swoop in and spend the next decade drinking Americano's in Brooklyn (hell I didn't even know what an Americano was until last week!)

I'm simply me. I love terrible mainstream music whilst at the same time obsessing over Elvis, Rod Stewart and Big L, my favourite genre of movie is a good ole' Western Musical and I don't know how to correctly order a beverage whether it be espresso or alcoholic. I'm social awkward, yet most people rave about how self assure I am. I love spending nights alone and days with my family just as much as I like going to the nearest bars and as time goes on I'm beginning to finally love that girl.

I'm at a crossroad…crossroads? big scary intersection of life?

I turned 18 the summer after my senior year and a short month later I packed my bags, left my tiny town in snowy New England  and moved to New York City. I had to find an apartment, start college (then drop out…then drop back in…then drop back out….then drop back in….), find a job to support myself (Thanks for the trust fund Daddy….oh wait…that didn't happen) and learn how to keep myself alive….it's surprisingly difficult.

I have had adventures, I've cried, I've had my heart broken, I've met the greatest people, I've met the worst people, I've worked my butt off and I've spent days in my bed hiding from life. New York can gnaw away at you, nibble lightly or complete devour your soul but only if you let it.

It is now two years later, I'm in a new mind set and I want to share the journey with you….whoever you are….whether it's those small town girls wanting to experience something more whilst there stuck at 15 (been there), a stranger wanting to hear about others misfortunes to make themselves feel that little better (been there), or simply my future self in a moment of self reflection. I don't know, and I honestly don't care who you are, if you get a giggle or even a slight smile, I am happy. This is a place for me to share the laughs I've had, the things I love and every other random corner of my lovely and amazing, confusing and catastrophic calamity of a life.
